I had a great time reading this sequel to Band on the Run! As with the author's other books, it was laugh-out-loud funny at times, but with an underlying depth of meaning. In this book, we get a deeper look at the main character, James Blank, and the events that shaped his life and personality. By the time I finished reading, I felt a strong attachment to James and I'm hoping for a third installment in the series! I highly recommend this book and others by this author if you are interested in music and the people that make it, or just enjoy a good story with rich, unforgettable imagery.Product details

Usually I find sequel's to be lacking, but not this time. A really good story concludes and it is a story you can believe to be true. Maybe you will come away feeling you know some of these characters, I know I did.
Start with Band On The Run then carry on with Running On Empty, two well written and well told stories of a band that could be playing at the local bar down the street.
Running on Empty gives us the further exploits of the cwazy Mellowtron band members and their uber-controlling manager, James Blank. But the boys have matured and mellowed like fine wine. The writer has a great talent for description and dialog. He weaves a beautiful tapestry for his reader. You'll feel like you're hanging with your best buds in an historic southern mansion. It's fascinating to see what the band boys have learned from their time on the road together and apart. I also felt great affection for the new characters who join us for this outing. I'm looking forward to the author's next book. I thoroughly enjoy his point of view.
Just wanted to say that I really liked this book. I need to find out what happened to James and the Gang. It left me wanting more. We need a third book!!!!!
